  • Ground Plane

    Hi,

@phils-lab I noticed that on the two layer board Single to Split Rail DC Power Supply Design you did a ground pour over the first layer, but in the Breakout board you didn't. Why is that?

    Hi there,

Which breakout board are you referring to?

For two-layer boards, my aim is to keep a solid ground plane on the bottom layer with signal + power on the top. If there aren't too many disconnected islands, I'll also pour copper on the top (GND fill). However, I don't generally see much benefit from doing so.

For four or more layer boards, I'll just use internal layer ground fills with little-to-no fills on outer layers.

    Best,
    Phil

I was referring at your YouTube video Single to Split Rail DC Power Supply Design, on that video, I believe you pour copper (GND Fill) on top of the first layer. Is that a recommended practice?
