  • Vqfn footprint

    Hello Everyone.

I must create VQFN footprint for ATMEGA8U2 in my project. But I am using Altium and I don't know how can I create this footprint. Does anyone know how can we create VQFN on Altium?

Can I use IPC Footprint wizard and PQFN or QFN Template?

You do not have to use Wizard, but Wizard will also create 3D model (that is useful). Once you finish wizard, you still may need to adjust the footprint based on recommended land pattern:

Also, watch the pictures when you are checking different types of footprints - some are flat (e.g. QFN), other have pads going out of plastic or on sides:

I do not have any course about IPC (they organize these courses you may need to find a certified training).

However, maybe you have not seen this video yet, it could be helpful: How to create perfect PCB Footprint - What you really need to know https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cMxXea16Hxc
