Auto increment Designator

  • Auto increment Designator

    When I place part in Altium sch, it is not getting incremental reference designator, it takes ? which i dont want, i Want designator to be automatically incremented.Please let me know how to do this.

    I have never needed it (I always use Tools -> Annotation -> Annotate schematic).

    However, I tried to search a little bit and it looks like you can do autoincrement, but you need to write the first value manually (I could not find any info if the first value can be set automatically).

    This is what I found:

    "The Schematic Editor includes a simple auto-increment feature for the designator that can be used during the placement of multiple instances of the same part. To use this, press Tab while the first component is floating on the cursor and enter a suitable designator, for example R1. Subsequent components will then be designated R2, R3, etc. Note that when you switch to placing a different component type you must again press Tab and enter a suitable designator prefix."
