  • Design Rule for Flex-Rigid

Some Flex-Rigid PCB manufacturer ask for no trace bending within 2mm vicinity of bending line, and we have to keep trace straight in that 4mm boundary, I was wondering do we have an option in AD to set and check this as a DRC rule?

I do not really know how altium would be figuring out if a track is straight. I have not seen any rule like that.

      Hi,
I used to think that PCB is two forms either rigid or flex, but it looks the third form also exists as one-tine bending; wondering did you hear about it?

Eurocircuits has a "semi rigid" which can be bend about 5 times.

          I didn't know that. Interesting.

PS: I found this (just a quick search to see what it is about): https://icape-group.com/pcb/pcb-types/semi-flex-pcb/

I am wondering can we set different design rules for different board sections?
For example, I need more spacing in flex parts than what is set for the rigid section.

Yes, you can add rooms and specify separate rules to be used within those rooms. Use "WithinRoom" or "TouchesRoom".

            Dear qdrives ,
Thank you for comment and help, I also find that AD20 has an option for flex and rigid sections,
Of course, the ROOM option is more helpful.
