  • About 8-PowerTDFN package

    Hi.
I've downloaded this footprint from distributor website.
It is the footprint for a MOSFET.
Pins 5, 6, 7 and 8 are tied together on the transistor.
As you can see, there is only one pad with "5_8" designator (tiny one) they put on a polygon.
I've got a problem at routing time because it pins 5, 6, 7 & 8 are not present on the footprint.

    How can I solve it?

on the symbol rename pin 5 as "5_8" and remove pins 6, 7 & 8

For sure, this is a solution.
is there another one while keeping the 4 pins on the schematic?

The other way would be to keep the 4 pins on the schematic and replace pad 5_8 with 4 pads 5, 6, 7 & 8

Also consider that in the schematic library item for this part, the pin mapping for the footprint needs to make some sense. EG If the schematic symbol has pins, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 mapped to footprint pads 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, while the pads in the footprint are actually numbered 1, 2, 3, 4, 5-8, then routing will not work.
