  • About Fanout Component

    Hi,

I am trying to auto fanout a BGA following this video:
How to Set up BGA Auto Fanout in Altium Designer - YouTube

    I have a BGA with 20 x 11 balls = 220 balls, 0.25 mm diameter.
    The pitch is 0.65 mm
The land pad diameter is 0.20 mm.
The solder mask expansion is 0.05 mm.

I created 3 rules within the room "BGA":
    - Clearance : 0.116 mm (I assume one track between the pads (0.65 - 0.30)/3)
    - Vias: 0.10/0.25
    - Width: 0.116 on all layers (I have 6 signal layers and 2 planes)

The quite funny result is attached.

    Any idea ?

I have never ever used automatic BGA fanout ... in my opinion, that feature is marketing and mostly useless in real PCB design. Theoretically it is possible to use it, if you are not limited with size or number of layers, but in real word, you may want to do fanout manually. It's not as bad as you may think - use copy and paste.
