  • About Impedance Control Data

    Hi everyone,

If you decide to have impedance control during the manufacturing process of your board, you have to share data highlighting the various impedance profiles for each layer.
Is there a way to do that with Altium following an automated process?

    Thanks.

One of the tricks mentioned in a webinar is that you could set the trace width to something like 0.152mm (and not 0.15) and state that the 0.152mm traces need to be say 45 ohm.
You can have a list of the layers and trace widths combined with the impedance.

If you go the Draftsman route, it lets you add a stackup table to a document. Note that in the design tool, impedance profiles are largely tied to the stackup manager. I wonder if there's a way to manipulate the stackup table properties to include impedance info?

Just conjecture, qdrives. I don't rightly know.
You'd think Draftsman would be ready to allow the user to place a drawing item that conveys each typical critical element, PCB appearance, stackup table, impedance table, etc.

          I don't have a lot of Draftsman experience 🤷

From my board I get this (not a normal impedance requirement)

However, I does not state that actual trace widths used, just what the impedance configuration (layer stack manager) calculates.
