    Hello Everybody,

I have prepared two boards in total. One would be a baseboard and other RF submodule. The RF submodule would interface with the baseboard via a connector. I would like to visualize this placement of submodule on baseboard to make sure that there are no mechanical collisions or any other violations.

How can this be done in Altium designer?

    Thanks
    Nikhil

There is no very straight forward way to do it I think. You can export the module as a STEP model. After that you can create a custom footprint and use the STEP model as a 3D body. Then just place this footprint on your base board.

mairomaster described it exactly the way as we use it. Have a look at the iMX6 Rex Development Baseboard project and download the Altium files. You will see how we did that. Go to iMX6 Rex project >
