why 3D models in mech 1

I'm going through you course an I noticed all of the components have their 3D models on mechanical layer 1. Is there a reason for this? I thought mechanical layer 1 was only to be used for the board outline.

No special reason. I use mechanical layer 1, because 3D model is usually placed there by default. You can use any mechanical layer, just keep it consistent across your projects or in your company.

I never blog but I'm trying to get back to my course and I don't see how. I'm logged in so where do I go to get back to where I was?
