  • Allegro to Solid

    Hi

In a project I need to convert my BRD to 3D STEP in Solid Works. Is there any way to do this? I am using Allegro 16.6.
I can convert my BRD to Altium PCB and then convert PCB to STEP but I am looking for a better way to convert it directly.
If you know another way, Please share with me. Thank you.

I am not sure what is 3D support for Allegro 16.6. However if you upgrade to 17.2, you should be able to do it

      Hi dear Robert
My problem with Solid is not resolved. If you can please help me. I migrated to Allegro 17.2 and could export step file but when I import that file to solid, I will see PCB is not filled. I sent a picture from my step file imported in Solid. As you can see I expect my PCB be a green plane with white hole but it not happened. Can you tell me a way to resolve this issue?
Thank you very much for your best helps.

It should work oki. How do you see 3D view of your PCB in Allegro - is is same as in the picture? Is your stackup set correctly?

Yes I am seeing the same picture in my 3d view of Allegro. I attached this view. I think that I set stackup correctly but not sure actually. How can I set correctly to show the thickness?

It was just an idea about the stackup. Double check thickness of each layer in Xsection (cross-section):

As you can see in the image I attached, I defined thickness of all layers but yet I have problem with. If you have another idea I will glad. Thank you so much.

                  Dear Robert
I could open your step file successfully. If you can, please try with my pcb file. Also it is not final and doesn't have components step. I need just the bare board step file. If you can try it. Thank you very much.

Your file is attached. I tried it also in Autodesk Viewer, looks like it should work:

Thank you very much dear Robert. Can you test my step file also? I just have Solid works and doesn't work. Thank you.

Autodesk Viewer is free, just register there and you can use it: https://viewer.autodesk.com/
