  • Altium V18 - Placing 3D model, the leads appear to be buried in pad

Using Altium V18, making the diode footprint In Lesson 3 (approx 1:05:00), when you align the face of the bottom of the diode lead with the board placing 3D model, it appears to be “buried” inside the pad when placed. I can move it up more so it is visible, but I don’t understand why I should need to. Is this attempting to compensate for pad thickness? If I move it up, will it be “short” for the pick-n-place machine?

Another V18 issue - Also, I’ve noticed the “packaging” information doesn’t import correctly when searching for components from Digi-Key. It appears to just say "Tape & Reel" for all the rows – rather useless.

That looks to me like a problem with 3D model or a bug. Have a look at my AD18 quick tutorial - works there ok: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...puSXz6sROQmO6R

PS: yes, I know about the packaging and also missing category. They keep updating it - in AD19 it is again a little bit different - I made a video about it, it will be available this week on my youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/robertferanec
