if you mean to make a 0.04mm hole in solder mask .... I don't know. As qdrives suggested, you will need to ask your PCB manufacturer.👍 1- Selected Answer

These limits depend on the technology capabilities of the fabricators. You would need to talk to them to know what they can do, and what the cost difference will be.
Using smaller values generally will increase the cost too.👍 1Leave a comment:

Altium Cu pad opening minimum size
Hi,
The copper BGA pad has an opening and the opening size can be controlled by the solder mask. Is there any manufacturer minimum size limit, The only limit i have found is the solder mask clearence limit of 4mil-0.1mm. Does the same limit apply to copper pad opening.
For example Fig 1. shows a copper pad opening size of 0.32mm , Figure 2 has copper pad opening of 0.194 mm , Figure 3 shows copper pad opoening of 0.040 mm.. I wnat to know if i will have an issue with 0.040 copper pad opening.
Figure 4 shows the manufactures solder mask cleaerence limit of 4 mil- 0.01mm
Figure 1. Copper pad opening of size 0.32 mm
Figure 2. Copper pad opening of size 0.194 mm
Figure 3. Copper pad opening of size 0.040 mm
Figure 4. Manufacturer's limit of solder mask clearenceTags: None
