Does plugging in a flash drive all the time harm it?

    There is no harm if you keep flash drive plugged in USB.

    It can be warm - it can transfer some heat from the computer through the metal connector and it can also generate a little heat as there is probably a DC/DC converter from 5V down to at least 3V3.

    Does plugging in a flash drive all the time harm it?

    I have a Sandisk flash drive, the tiny one with 128Gb storage and I'm working on an early MacBook Air. Is it going to cause any damage if I just leave the drive in the port all the time. Because I can feel that it's generating some heat even if there is no operation regarding it.
