function of EEPROM and FLASH in IMX6 design?

I had advanced high speed pcb design training, for IMX6 is there any link that explain the base board and IMX6 board schematic design functionality?

For example NOR FLASH is used for what? and EEPROM in base board is used for what?
does firmware goes into EEPROM or FLASH or none?

In iMX6 Rex, SPI FLASH is used for bootloader and EEPROM can be used for custom data.
