  • Comunication Tracks

    Hello All,

Would there be any advantage on having a GND trace for example between the microcontroller and the CAN transceiver signals ( signal with frequencies higher then 20kHz for example )? Or should I make sure to have the signal on the outside on the signal and not between them ?

    Thanks

    Best Regards,

    BD

To be noted that this is a 4 layer board and bellow this signal layer there is a GND plane

Normally I do not route GND tracks on signal layer (occasionally there can be an exception e.g. around crystal or oscillator). However, what is important, I always try to make the clearance between neighbor tracks as big as possible. And I have not seen any problems with this technique.

Yoda’s advice applies just as well to some aspect of circuit board design as it does to mastering the Force. There are many myths and myth-conceptions about ...

If you pay attention to Mr. Bogatins advice, you shouldnt place a gnd around traces. You only need to do is seperating traces between each other.
