Use Satrun PCB Toolkit to calculate maximum current through a VIA. This way, you can decide to go for a bigger VIA or you can calculate how many VIAs you will need.

BTW: you can use any kind of VIA you want, there are no special rules (except the one that you need to be sure it can carry maximum required current of the signal/track). Normally I go for the smallest one as it takes less space.

Ok thanks Robert. If I want to use a bigger via how do I calculate the size? Also can you please elaborate the use of the multiple vias for a high current track?

I normally use only one types of through hole VIAs - usually 0.45mm(ring) / 0.2mm(drilling). Check with your PCB manufacturer if they can manufacture it - they usually can.

If we have high current tracks, we use multiple VIAs or we can use a VIA with bigger diameter.

    Via size

Hi Robert, I have tracks with widths 6-8-16-24-32 mil .How do we determine the correct via diameters and holes for a track?
