Integrated Magnetic Ethernet Connectors and Shield Connection

Hi everyone and Robert,
What do you think about the integrated magnetic ethernet connectors, I have never used them. What are the disadvantages of them?

My second question is what is the best way to connect the ethernet shield to the ground? I have seen many designs with different ways of connection.
Some of them use 1Meg Ohm resistor parallel with capacitor, some of them use ferrite beads, some of them don't use anything and connect shield directly to the ground.

1) I have used them, no problems

2) If I am not sure how exactly your board is going to be connected in bigger system, I add footprints to support different combinations (add footprints between shield, gnd, guard ring, etc to fit different components if needed). PS: Very often we design CPU board and we connect it directly to GND, but that doesn't have to be the best solution for every situation.
