  • Bus and Ports using in schematic design

    Hi Robert

I was wondering if you can tell me when it is necessary to use bus and ports in our schematic designs? As I checked when we have a schematic project, one net will be global in all defined schematic pages. Is it important to use bus and ports in small project schematic? then is it necessary to write them in schematic project page as attached picture?

    Regards,

Hi fatemehjml. For schematics with more than 1 page we always use ports. We sometimes use bus - usually for a bus with a lot of signals (e.g. memory bus). We do create top level page with sheet symbols, but I do not draw there anything - in my opinion it takes a lot of time to draw it and it can introduce mistakes into schematic. I prefer to include a block diagram into schematic instead.
